In this do I always strive to have a clear conscience toward God and toward men.

But avoid profane foolish babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness,

But avoid foolish and unlearned debates, knowing that they create strife.

Yes, and all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

having a form of godliness, but denying its power. Turn away from such people.

and they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn to myths.

not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who reject the truth.

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and in godliness in this present world,

But avoid foolish debates, genealogies, contentions, and arguments about the law, for they are unprofitable and useless.

But solid food belongs to those who are mature, for those who through practice have powers of discernment that are trained to distinguish good from evil.
