Now the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.

She said, “The glory is departed from Israel, for the ark of God is taken.”

Now the ark of the Lord had been in the country of the Philistines seven months.

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen. And he called its name Ebenezer saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
