So they rose at twilight to enter the camp of the Arameans. When they came to the edge of the camp of the Arameans, behold, there was no one there.

Then they struck down the rest of the Amalekites who had escaped. So they have dwelt there until this day.

Then I beat them fine, like dust before the wind; I cast them out like dirt in the streets.

But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men and went to the Ammonites.

On the next day Saul put the people in three companies. And they came into the midst of the camp in the morning and struck down the Ammonites until the heat of the day. Those surviving were scattered, so that even two of them were not left together.

Now go and strike Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not have compassion on them but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”
