David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, “What have I done? What is my offense? And what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?”

Now David fled, and he escaped and came to Samuel at Ramah. And he reported to him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth.

And he said to him, “Far from it! You shall not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small that he does not reveal to me. Why would my father hide this thing from me? It is not so.”

Jonathan answered Saul his father and said to him, “Why should he be killed? What has he done?”

See, my father! Look at the corner of your robe in my hand. Indeed, I cut off the corner of your robe, but I did not kill you. Observe and see that there is no evil or rebellion in my hand. I have not sinned against you, but you are lying in wait for my life to take it.

The Lord will judge between me and you, and the Lord will avenge me on you, but my hand will not be against you.

And he said to David, “You are more righteous than I, for you have rewarded me with good, while I have rewarded you with evil.

David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men saying, ‘Behold, David seeks your harm’?

He said, “Why is my lord pursuing after his servant? For what have I done? Or what evil is in my hand?
