Samuel said, “As your sword has made women childless, so will your mother be childless among women.” And Samuel hacked Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
Elijah said to them, “Arrest the prophets of Baal, and do not let one of them escape.” And they arrested them, and Elijah brought them down to the Kishon brook and executed them there.
The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made full with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
Therefore, deliver up their children to the famine and pour out their blood by the power of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children and become widows and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings whose thumbs and big toes were cut off once collected scraps of food under my table. Just as I have done, so God has repaid me.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
“You shall go down before me to Gilgal. And behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and offer sacrifices of peace offerings. Seven days you will wait, until I come to you. Then I will make known to you what you will do.”
Then Samuel said, “Bring me Agag the king of the Amalekites.” And Agag came to him reluctantly. But Agag said, “Surely the bitterness of death is past.”
