Now Joab was over the entire army of Israel. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites.

He reigned over Judah from Hebron for seven years and six months, and he reigned over all of Israel and Judah from Jerusalem for thirty-three years.

David reigned over all of Israel, and he administered fair judgments to all of his people.

However, I will not take the whole kingdom away, but will preserve one tribe for your son for David My servant’s sake and for the sake of Jerusalem which I chose.”

King Rehoboam consulted with the old men who advised his father Solomon while he was still alive and asked, “How do you advise me to answer the people?”

All Israel heard of the king’s judgment, and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to execute sound judgment.

These were the officials in his court: Azariah the son of Zadok was the priest.

All these made up the men of war, arranged in ranks, who came to Hebron with a sincere heart to make David king over all Israel, along with all the rest of Israel, who with one heart, came to make David king.

So Solomon came from the high place at Gibeon, before the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem, and he reigned over Israel.

So Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.

Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, who made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women caused even him to sin.

I, Qoheleth, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem.
