The young leaders of the provinces went out first. Ben-hadad sent out scouts, and they told him, “Men from Samaria have come out.”

Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the Lord, as well as the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants, and he sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Aram, who lived at Damascus, saying,

They went out at noon. But Ben-hadad and the thirty-two kings who helped him were getting drunk in the pavilions.

He said, “If they have come out peacefully, take them alive, and if they have come out for battle, take them alive.”

So these young leaders of the provinces came out of the city, followed by the army.
