If I go out into the field, behold, those slain with the sword! And if I enter the city, behold, those who are sick with famine! Indeed, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they do not know.

Ahab called Obadiah, who was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly.

Your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield her increase, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.

Therefore thus says the Lord, ‘You will not come down from the bed on which you have gone up but will surely die.’ ” Then Elijah departed.

All day they twist my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil.
