So Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel and conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel of Beth-maacah, and all Kinnereth, along with all the land of Naphtali.

When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants born in his own house, and pursued them as far as Dan.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali according to their clans: the cities and their villages.

They called the city Dan, after their father Dan, who was born to Israel (Laish was the former name of the city).
