This matter became sin to the house of Jeroboam, so as to cut it off and to destroy it from the face of the earth.

Jeroboam said in his heart, “The kingdom will return to the house of David.

This was a sin, for the people went to worship before the one, even all the way in Dan.

At that time, Jeroboam’s son Abijah became sick.

“ ‘Therefore, behold, I will bring disaster upon the house of Jeroboam and will cut off from Jeroboam all males, both slave and free in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man takes away refuse until it is all gone.

Descendants of Jeroboam who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the field will be eaten by the birds of the air, for the Lord has spoken it.’

He shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam who sinned and who led Israel to sin.”

Go tell Jeroboam, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: I raised you up from among the people and made you prince over My people Israel,

Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah and reigned over Israel two years.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father and in his sin with which he made Israel to sin.

and will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger and made Israel to sin.’

But from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, Jehu did not turn aside (that is, the golden calves that were in Bethel and Dan).

But Jehu was not careful to walk in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart. He did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam, who caused Israel to sin.

For He had torn Israel from the house of David, and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. Jeroboam diverted Israel from following the Lord and caused them to sin greatly.

Righteousness guards him whose way is upright, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will cast you from off the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the Lord.”

The high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed. Thorn and thistle will grow on their altars. They will say to the mountains, Cover us, and to the hills, Fall on us.
