and instead spoke to them following the advice of the young men. He said, “My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your burden. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”

So Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Watch yourself, do not see my face anymore, for in the day you see my face you shall die.”

And Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.”

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

He who walks with wise men will be wise, but a companion of fools will suffer evil.

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

The poor use entreaties, but the rich answer roughly.

The words from the mouth of a wise person bring favor, but the lips of a fool consume him.

And who knows if this man will be wise or foolish? Yet he will gain power over all for which I have toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

David said to Jonathan, “Who will tell me? Or what if your father answers you roughly?”
