We also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various desires and pleasures, living in evil and envy, filled with hatred and hating each other.

For he who lacks these things is blind and nearsighted, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his past sins.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him, yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.

Whoever says he is in the light but hates his brother is in darkness even until now.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar. For whoever does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

For you say, ‘I am rich, and have stored up goods, and have need of nothing,’ yet do not realize that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.
