Even when things without life give sound, whether flute or harp, how will it be known what is played unless they give a distinction in the sounds?

They are like children sitting in the marketplace, calling to each other, saying: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned to you, and you did not weep.’

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak to you by revelation or knowledge or prophesying or teaching?

If the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?

“After that you will come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is. And when you come there to the city, you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a harp, a tambourine, a flute, and a lyre before them. And they will prophesy.
