Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends.

“They do all their works to be seen by men. They make their Scripture boxes broad and lengthen the tassels on their prayer shawls.

Do not be carried away with diverse and strange teachings. It is a good thing that the heart be strengthened with grace, not with foods, which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.

Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.”

It is the Spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life.

But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I will repay him four times as much.”

Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit.

Let nothing be done out of strife or conceit, but in humility let each esteem the other better than himself.

I will declare your righteousness, and your works, yet they shall not profit you.
