If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both.
He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see?
(Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he said, “Come, and let us go to the seer.” For he that is now called a prophet was formerly called a seer.)
And if the ear says, “Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?
But now God has established the parts, every one of them, in the body as it has pleased Him.
