either three years of famine, or three months of being swept away before your foes while the sword of your enemy overtakes you, or three days of the sword of the Lord, even pestilence in the land, with the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the territory of Israel.’ Now then consider what answer I shall return to Him who sent me.”

Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David called upon the Lord. The Lord said, “There is blood guilt upon Saul and upon his house because he put the Gibeonites to death.”

Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was one of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives before whom I stand, there will not be dew or rain these years except by my word.”

On that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck one hundred and eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When others woke up early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Get up and go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you can, for the Lord has called for a famine, and it will come on the land for seven years.”

So Gad came to David and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Select for yourself,

nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that strikes at noonday.

For the Lord will pass through to kill the Egyptians. And when He sees the blood upon the lintel and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not permit the destroyer to come to your houses to kill you.

For by fire and by His sword on all flesh, the Lord shall execute judgment; and the slain of the Lord shall be many.

The destroyers have come upon all high places through the wilderness, for the sword of the Lord shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land. No one shall have peace.

then it shall come to pass that the sword which you feared shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt and the famine of which you were afraid shall follow close after you there in Egypt. And there you shall die.

O sword of the Lord, how long shall you not be quiet? Withdraw into your sheath, rest, and be still.

Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger, for they pine away, stricken for want of the fruits of the field.

You shall eat the old harvest long stored, and clear out the old to make way for the new.

I will set My face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies. They that hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when none pursues you.

But I tell you truthfully, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heavens were closed for three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land.

Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give God the glory. And he was eaten by worms and died.

But it will happen, if you will not listen to the voice of the Lord your God, by being careful to do all His commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you.

The Lord will strike you with a wasting disease, with a fever, with an inflammation, with an extreme heat, with the sword, with blight, and with mildew, and they shall pursue you until you perish.

The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies, and you will go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them, and will become an object of terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, eczema, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed.

The Lord will strike you in the knees and legs with sore boils that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.
