As for you, you will go to your fathers in peace and you will be buried at a good old age.

Otherwise it shall be that when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, I and my son Solomon shall be considered offenders.”

So David slept with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.

For we are strangers and sojourners before You, just as all our fathers were. Our days on earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

So he died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place.

only you will not be the one to build the house. For your son, who will be born to you, he will build a house for My name.’

The Lord has sworn in truth to David from which He will not turn back: “A son of the fruit of your body will I set upon your throne.

Let the heavens praise Your wonders, O  Lord, Your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones.

For thus says the Lord: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

“For after David had served by the counsel of God in his own generation, he fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw decay.

“Brothers, I may speak confidently to you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

The Lord said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise up and begin to prostitute themselves after the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they are going to be among them, and will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.
