And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, to commemorate, to thank, and to praise the Lord God of Israel:

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the Lord!

Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders and the judgments He has uttered,

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,

Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.

Make haste, O God, to deliver me! Make haste to help me, O  Lord!

Fret not because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.

Then David, along with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them to their offices by their service.

Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.

Then David told the leaders of the Levites to position their brothers the singers with musical instruments, harps, lyres, and cymbals to resound with joyful songs.

and he said, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has with His hand fulfilled His word, saying,

He erected an altar there and called it El-Elohe-Israel.

Then the man said, “Your name will no more be called Jacob, but Israel. For you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

These are the ones whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of the Lord, after the ark rested there.

Then he distributed to all the Israelites, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a raisin cake for each.

Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom: Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph made music with the cymbals.

Then David and the officers of the army also set apart for the service some of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, those who prophesied with lyres, harps, and cymbals. The number of those who did the work according to their service was:

it happened, when the trumpet players and singers made one sound to praise and give thanks to the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and all the instruments of music and praised the Lord saying, “For He is good and His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud.

When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their apparel stood with trumpets and, from the Levites, the sons of Asaph stood with cymbals to praise the Lord, following the example of David king of Israel.

The leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers across from them, to praise and to give thanks, section opposite section, according to the commandment of David the man of God.
