Then sayde Iuda: what shall we saye vnto my Lorde, what shall we speake or what excuse can we make? God hath founde out the wekednesse of thy seruauntes. Behold, both we and he wt whom the cuppe is founde, are thy seruauntes.
Therfore iudge nothinge before the tyme vntill the Lorde come, who wyll lyghten thinges, that are hyd in darckenes, and open the counsels of the hertes. And then shall euery man haue praise of God.
And they sayde one to another: come, lett vs cast lottes: that we maye knowe, for whose cause we are thus troubled. And so they cast lottes, and the lot fell vpon Ionas.
And I am thys daye tender, thoughe I be anoynted kyng. And these men the sonnes of Zaruiah be to good for me to rule? But the Lorde rewarde the doer of euyll accordynge to hys wyckednesse.
And the Lorde brynge hys bloude vpon his owne heade, for he smote two men ryghteouser and better then he, and slue them with the swearde, my father vnwetynge: euen Abner the sonne of Ner capitayne of the hoste of Israel, and Amasa the sonne of Iether captayne of the hoste of Iuda.
And their bloude returne vpon the heade of Ioab, and on the heade on hys sede for euer. And prosperyte be vnto Dauid, and vnto hys seade, and vnto hys house, and vnto hys seate, of the Lorde for euer.
