When Balam sawe that it pleased the Lorde that he shoulde blesse Israell, he wente not as he dyd twise before to fet sothsayinge, but sette hys face towarde the wildernes,

And Balam sayd vnto Balac: stande by the Sacrifyce whyle I go to wete whether the Lorde wil come and mete me, & whatsoeuer he sheweth me, I wyl tel the, & he went forthewyth.

beholde these caused the chyldren of Israel thorow Balam, to commyt trespace agaynst the Lorde, by the reason of Peor, & there folowed a plage among the congregacion of the Lorde.

And Balac broughte Balam vnto the toppe of Peor, that boweth towarde the wyldernesse.

beholde, I haue begone to blesse and haue blessed, and can not goo backe therefro.

And he sayd vnto Balac: stand here by thy Sacrifyce whyle I go yonder.

And Balam rose vp in the mornyng and sayd vnto the Lordes of Balac: get you vnto your land, for the Lorde wyll not suffer me to go wt you.

And Saul sayde to Dauid: Blessed art thou my sonne Dauid, for thou shalt be a doer and also able to brynge to an ende. And so Dauid went hys waye, and Saul turned to hys place agayne.

Then Saul arose & went to the wildernesse of Ziph and thre thousande chosen men of Israel with hym, for to seke Dauid in the wildernesse of Ziph.

And now I wote wel that thou shalt be kyng, and that the kyngedome of Israel shalbe stablyshed in thyne hande.

And the elders of Moab wente wyth the elders of Madian, & the reward of the sothsayinge in their handes. And they came vnto Balam and tolde hym the wordes of Balac.

And Balac dyd as Balam had sayed, and offered a bullocke and a ram on euery alter.
