For Hesbon was the city of Sehon the kinge of the Amorites whych Sehon had foughte before with the kinge of the Moabites, and had taken al hys land out of hys hande, euen vnto Arnon.

And Israell toke all these cytyes & dwelte in all the cyties of the Amorites: in Hesbon & in al the townes that longe therto.

Wherefore it is a prouerbe, go to Hesbon & lette the city of Sehon be builte & made ready,

all the wyle Israell dwelte in Hesbon and her tounes, and in Aroer and her tounes, and in all the cytyes that be a longe by the coastes of Arnon .iij. hundred yeres? why dydest thou not recouer them in all that space,

Thy necke is as it were a tower of yuery: thyne eyes are lyke the water poles in Hesebon, beside the porte of Bathrabbim: thy nose is like the tower of Libanus, which loketh toward Damascus:

after that he had smytten Sehon the kynge of the Amorites which dwelt in Hesbon, and Og kinge of Basan which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrai.

And theyr coastes were from Aroer that lyeth on the banck of the ryuer Arnon, and the cytye that lyeth in the ryuer, & al the playne aboute Madba,

Hesbon, & al her tounes that lye in the plaine, Dibon Bamothbaal, and Bethbaalmeon:

And their coastes were Iazer, & all the cities of Galaad, and halfe the land of the chyldren of Ammon, vnto Aroer that lyeth before Rabah:

That head that standeth vpon the is lyke Carmel: the heare of thy head is like the kynges purple folden vp in plates.

Moab shall no more be had in honoure: Wycked councell shalbe taken vpon Hesebon. Come (shall they saye) let vs rote them oute, that they maye be no more amonge the nombre of the Gentyles, yea that they maye no more be thought vpon: Thus the swearde shall persecute the:

O, Moab is confounded and ouercome. Mourne, and crye, tel it oute at Arnon, that Moab is destroyed.
