Then the Amaleckytes & the Cananites which dwelt in that hyl, came doune and smote them and hewed them: euen vnto Horma.

And the Lorde hearde the voyce of Israell, and deliuered them the Cananites. And they destroyed both them and their cityes, & called the place Horma.

And Iuda went & Simeon with him, & they slewe the Cananytes that enhabyted Zephah, and vtterly destroyed it, and called the name of the cytye Hormah.

Then the Amorites which dwelt in those hylles, came out against you and chased you as bees do, and hewed you in Seir, euen vnto Horma.

For the Amaleckytes and the Cananites are there before you, and ye wyll fal vpon the swerde because ye are tourned awaye from the Lorde, and therfore the Lorde wyll not be wyth you.

And the men of Ai smote of them vpon a thyrtye and sixe men. and chased them before the gates euen vnto Gabarim, and smote them in the goynge doune. And the hertes of the people were discouraged and mealted lyke water.

How it cometh that one shal chace a thousande, and two putt ten thousande of theym to flyght, excepte theyr rocke had solde them, and bicause the Lord had deliuered them.

for he sayed: the hande is on the seate of the Lorde, that the Lorde wyll haue warre wyth Amelech thorow out all generations.

The Amaleckes dwell in the south contre, & the Hethytes, Iebusites and the Amorites dwel in the mountaynes, and the Cananites dwell by the sea and a longe by the costet of Iordan.

And the Lorde spake vnto Moses saying:

to them of Haramah: to them of Borasan: to them of Athach:

And put them selues in araye agaynst Israel. And in the ende of the battel Israel was put to the worsse before the Philistines. And the Philistines slue in araye a long by the feldes about a four thousand men.

And Dauid & hys men went & ranne vpon the Gesurites, the Gerzites and Amalekites: whyche nacions were from the begynnyng the enhabyters of the land, as men go to Sur, and so forthe to Egypte.

Thou hast taken awaye the strengthe of his swerde, and geuest him not victory in the battayle.
