So can no fountayne geue both salte water & freshe also. If any man be wyse and endued wyth learnynge amonge you, let hym shewe the workes of hys good conuersacyon in mekenes that is coupled with wysdome.
Wherfore laye a parte all fylthynes, all superfluytye of malycyousnes, and receyue wyth mekenes the worde that is grafted in you, whiche is able to saue your soules.
but sanctifie the Lorde God in your hertes. Be ready alwaies to geue an answere to euery man that axeth you a reason of the hope, that is in you, and that with mekenes & feare,
yea or the daye of the Lordes sore dyspleasure come vpon you. Seke the Lorde all ye meke herted vpon earth, ye that worcke after hys iudgemente, seke ryghtuousnesse: seke lowlynesse, that ye maye be defended in the wrothfull daye of the Lorde.
but wyth ryghteousnesse shall he iudge the poore, and with holynes shal he refourme the symple of the worlde. He shall smyte the worlde wyth the staffe of hys mouthe, & with the breathe of his mouth shall he slay the wicked.
Hope thou in the Lord, & kepe his waye, & he shal so promote the, that thou shalt haue the lande by enheritaunce, and se, when the vngodly shall perishe.
For the promes that he shoulde be the heyre of the worlde, was not geuen to Abraham or to hys sede thorowe the lawe: but thorow the ryghtuousnesse which commeth of fayth.
The spirite of the Lorde God is with me, for the Lorde hath annointed me, & sent me, to preache good tydinges vnto the poore, that I myght binde vp the wounded hertes, that I myght preach delyueraunce to the captyue, and open the preson to them that are bounde:
