For this cause when I coulde no longer forbeare, I sente, that I might haue knowledge of your fayth, least haplye the tempter had tempted you, and that oure labour had bene bestowed in vayne.
Feare none of those thynges, which thou shalt suffre. Behold, the deuil shal caste of you into pryson, to tempte you, and ye shal haue tribulacion .x. dayes. Be faythful vnto the death, & I wyl geue the a croune of life.
& sayd vnto them: wolde to God we had dyed by the hand of the Lorde in the lande of Egypte, when we sat by the fleshpottes, & eate bred our belyes ful, for ye haue brought vs out into this wyldernesse to kyl thys holy multitude for honger.
And he caryed hym to Ierusalem, and set him on a pynacle of the tempel, and sayde vnto him. If thou be the sonne of God caste thy selfe doune from hence:
But Iesus held hys peace: And the chief Priest answered and sayed to hym: I charge the in the name of the liuynge God, that thou tell vs whyther thou be Christ the sonne of God.
and cryed with a loude voyce, and sayde: what haue I to do with a loude voyce, and sayde: what haue I to do with the Iesus the sonne of the most hyest God? I requyre the in the name of God that thou torment me not.
And the aungell aunswered and sayd vnto her: The holye ghoste shall come vnto the, and the power of the hyest shall ouer shadowe the. Therfore also that holye thynge whiche shall be borne shalbe called the sonne of God.
And deuyls also came oute of many of them cryinge and saiyng: thou arte Christ the sonne of God. And he rebuked them, and suffered them not to speake: for they knewe that he was Christe.
For Gods sonne Iesus Christe, whiche was preached amonge you by vs (that is to saye, by me and Siluanus and Timotheus) was not yea and naye, but in him it was yea:
I am crucyfyed with Christ. I lyue verelye: yet now not I, but Christe lyueth in me. For the lyfe which I now lyue in the, flesh I lyue by the faythe of the sonne of God whiche loued me, and gaue hym selfe for me.
wythoute father, wythout mother, wythout kynne, & hath neyther begynnyng of hys tyme, neyther yet ende of hys lyfe: but is lykened vnto the sonne of God, and contynueth a prieste for euer.
He that committeth sinne, is of the deuil, for the deuil sinneth sence the beginninge. For this purpose appered the sonne of God to lowse the workes of the deuil.
