This Ihon had his garmente of Camels hear & a girdel of a skinne about his loynes. His meate was locustes, & wilde honye.

And they sayde vnto hym: it was an hearry man and gyrde with a gyrdle of a skinne aboute hys loynes. And he said vnto them: it is Eliah the Thesbite.

euen these of them ye maye eate: the arbe & al hys kynde: the Selaam with al hys kynde: the Hargol and all the kynde, the Hagab and all hys kynde.

Iohn was clothed with camylles heare, & with a gerdyll of a skyn about hys loynes. And he dyd eate locustes, and wilde honey,

other what wente ye out for to se? A man clothed in soft rayment? Beholde they that weare softe clothed, are in kinges houses.

And then shal those prophetes be confounded, euery one of his vision when he prophecieth: neither shall they weer sackclothes any more, to disceyue men wt all.

And he shall go before hym in the spryte of power of Helyas, to turne the hertes of the fathers to the chyldren and the vnbeleuers to the wisdome of the iust men, to make the people redy for the Lord.

Beholde, I wyl sende you Elias the Prophet: before the comming of the daye of the greate and fearfull Lorde.

And I will geue power vnto my .ij. witnesses, & they shal prophesy .M.ij.C. & .lx. daies, cloteth in sacke cloth.

For Iohn came neyther eatynge nor drinkinge, and they say, he hath the deuyl.

He sett hym vp vpon an hye land, and he ate the encrease of the feyldes. And he gaue hym honye to sucke oute of the rocke, & oyle out of the hard stone.

Then spake the Lorde vnto Esai the sonne of Amos, sayinge: go and louse of that sacke clothe from thy loynes: and put of thy shoes from thy fete. And so he did, going naked and barefote.
