When the Centurion sawe what had happened, he gloryfyed God saiynge: Of a suretye this man was perfecte.

We are ryghtuously punished, for we receyued accordinge to our dedes. But this man hath done nothinge amisse.

He saide vnto them the thirde tyme. What euill hath he done? I fynde no cause of death in him. I will therfore chasten him, & let him louse.

When the Centurion and they that were with hym watchinge Iesus, sawe the earth quake and those thinges whiche happened they feared greatly sayinge: Of a surtye this was the sonne of God.

When he was set doune to geue iudgement hys wyfe sent to hym saying: haue thou nothing to do with that iust man. For I haue suffered manye thynges thys daye in a dreame about hym.

Wherfore they cryed vnto the Lord, & sayde: O Lord lett vs not perish for this mans death, nether laye thou innocent bloude vnto oure charge: for thou, O Lorde, hast done, euen as thy pleasure was.

But thys shal ye know: yf ye put me to death ye shall make youre selues, thys cytye and al the inhabytours thereof, gyltye of innocente bloude. For thys is of a trueth: that the Lorde hath sente me vnto you, to speake al these wordes in youre eares.

I haue oft times heard such thinges. Miserable geuers of comforte are ye, al the sorte of you.

and for the innocent bloude, that he shedde, and fylled Ierusalem with innocent bloude, whych the Lord woulde not forgeue.

When Ahab hearde those wordes, he rent his clothes and put sackecloth about his flesh, and fasted, and laye in sack, and went confortlesse.

Then he sayd: I haue synned. But yet honoure me before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turne agayne wyth me, that I maye praye vnto the Lorde thy God.

Then sayde Saul to Samuel: I haue sinned, for I haue trespaced the mouthe of the Lorde, and thy wordes, because I feared the people and obeyed theyr voyce.

And he called vnto Moses and Aaron by nyghte sayinge: Ryse vp, & get you out from amonge my people: both ye & also the children of Israel, & go & serue the Lorde as ye haue sayd.

And Pharao sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and sayed vnto them: I haue now synned, the Lord is ryghtuous, & I and my people are wicked.

And they that dwell vpon the earth, shall reioyse ouer them and be glad, and shal sende gyftes one to another for these two prophetes vexed them that dwelt on the earth.

As for you, ye are worckmaisters of lyes, and vnprofytable Physicians all together.

For he dyd put hys lyfe in hys hande and slue the Philistine, and the Lorde gaue a great vyctorye to all Israell. And thou sawest it, & thou reioysedest, wherfore then shouldest thou sinne agaynst innocent bloude, and slee Dauid for nought?

They gather them together agaynste the soule of the righteous, and condemne the innocent bloude.

A man shalbe commended for hys wysdome, but a fole shalbe despised.
