At that feast, the debitye was wont to delyuer to the people a prysoner, whom they would desyre.
Festus willing to do the Iewes a pleasure, aunswered Paule & sayd. Wylt thou go to Hierusalem, and there be iudged of these thinges before me?
But after .ij. yeare Festus Porcius came into Felix roume. And Felix wyllynge to shewe the Iewes a pleasure, left Paule in prison bounde.
Then delyuered he him vnto them to be crucifyed. And they toke Iesus, & led hym awaye,
I wil therfore chasten him and let him louse.
But they sayed, not on the holy daye, lest any vproure aryse amonge the people.
He had then a notable prysonner called Barrabas.
For of necessyte he muste haue let one louse vnto them at that feaste.
And all the people cryed at once saiynge: awaye with him and delyuer to vs Barrabas
But Peter stode at the dore without. Then went oute that other disciple whiche was knowne vnto the hye prieste, and spake to the damsell that kepte the dore, & brought in Peter.
