When ye therfore shall se the abhomination that betokeneth desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophete, stande in the holye place (let hym that readeth it, vnderstande it)

He shall make a stronge bonde with many, for the space of a weke: and when the weke is halfe gone, he shall put doune the slayne and meateofferinge. And in the temple there shalbe an abhominable desolacion, till it haue destroyed all. And it is concluded, that thys wasting shall continue vnto the ende.

And from the time forth that the dayly offeringe shalbe put doune & the abhominable desolacyon set vp, there shalbe a thousande two hundreth & .xc. dayes.

Moreouer, when ye se the abhomynacyon that betokeneth desolacion, whereof is spoken by Daniel the Prophet, stande where it oughte not, let hym that readeth vnderstand, then let them that be in Iurye, fle to the mountaynes.

And when ye se Ierusalem beseged with an hoste, then vnderstande that the solacion of the same is nye.

He shall set myghty men to vnhalowe the Sanctuary of strength, to put doune the daylye offerynge, and to set vp the abhomynable desolacyon.

Happye is he that readeth, and they that heare the wordes of the prophecye, and kepe those thynges which are wrytten therein. For the tyme is at hande.

For the dayes shall come vpon the, that thyne enemyes shal cast a banke aboute the, & compasse the round and kepe the on euerye syde,

For as sone as thou begannest to make thy prayer, it was so diuised, and therfore am I come to shewe the. And why? For thou arte a man greatly beloued. Wherfore, pondre the matter well, that thou mayest learne, to vnderstande the vision.

Vnderstande this then, and marcke it well, that from the tyme it shalbe concluded, to go and repayre Ierusalem againe, vnto Christ (or the annointed) prince: there shalbe seuen weakes. Then shal the stretes and walles be buylded again .lxij. weakes, but wyth harde troublous time.

Wherfor we ought to geue the more heede to the thynges which we haue heard, lest we perishe.

and brought him to the counsell and brought forth false witnesses whiche sayde. This man ceaseth not to speake blaspemous wordes against thys holy place, and the lawe,

Let him that hath eares, heare what the spyrite sayth vnto the congregacions.

criyng: Ye men of Israell, healpe. Thys is the man that teacheth all men euerye where agaynste the people and the lawe, and this place. More ouer also he hath brought Grekes into the temple, & hath polluted thys holy place.

and sayde vnto me: marcke well with thyne eyes, herken to with thyne eares, & fasten it in thine hert, whatsoeuer I shall shewe the, for to the intent that they myght be shewed the, therfore art thou brought hither. And what soeuer thou seyste, thou shalt certyfye the house of Israel therof.

yf we let hym scape thus, all men wyll beleue on hym, & the Romaynes shall come and take away our countrey and the people.

Take this for a token, that I wyll vyset you in this place, sayeth the Lorde, and that ye maye knowe, howe that I (wythoute doute) will perfourme my purpose vpon you, to punishe you.

Amonge these nowe were certayne of the chyldren of Iuda: namely Daniel, Ananias, Misael & Azarias.

then let theim which be in Iurye, flye into the mountaines.
