And they sent vnto hym theyr discyples with Herodes seruauntes sayinge: Mayster, we knowe that thou art true, & teachest the waye of God truely: neither carest for any man, for thou considerest not mennes estate.

And the Pharyses departed, and strayght waye gathered a counsel with them that belonged to Herode agaynste hym that they might destroye hym.

And they axed him, saiynge: Mayster, we knowe that thou sayest and teachest right, neyther consyderest thou any mans degree, but teachest the waye of God truely.

And assone as they were come, they saied vnto him: maister, we know that thou arte true, and carest for no man: for considerest not the degre of men, but teacheste the waye of God truly. Is it lawfull to paye trybute to Cesar or not.

And he charged them sayng: Take hede of the leuen of the Phariseis, & of the leuen of Herode.

We know, that the sonne of God is come, & hath geuen vs a minde to know him which is true, & we are in him, that is true thorowe his sonne Iesus Christ. This same is verye God, and eternal lyfe.

Pilate sayed to him: Arte thou a kynge then? Iesus aunswered: Thou sayest that I am a kynge. For thys cause was I borne, and for thys cause came I into the worlde, that I shoulde beare wytnes vnto the trueth. And al that are of the trueth heare my voyce.

Iesus sayd vnto hym: I am the waye, the truthe and the lyfe. And no man commeth to the father, but by me.

He that speaketh of him selfe, seketh his owne prayse. But he that seketh his prayse that sent him, the same is true and no vnrightuousnes is in him.

But the wysedome that is from aboue, is fyrste pure, then peasable, gentle, and easye to be entreated, full of mercye & good frutes, wythoute iudgynge, and wythout simulacyon:

but as we were allowed of God, that the Gospel shoulde be committed vnto vs, euen so we spake, not as though we entended to please men, but God whyche tryeth oure hertes.

Of them whiche seme to be great (what they were in time passed, it maketh no matter to me: God loketh on no mans person) neuerthelesse they which seme great, added nothing to me.

Preache I mans doctryne or Goddes? Eyther go I aboute to please men? Yf I studyed to please men, I were not the seruauat of Christe.

Wherfore hence forthe knowe we no man after the fleshe. In so muche though we haue knowen Christe after the fleshe, nowe hence forth knowe we hym so no more.

but haue caste from vs the clokes of vnhonestye, and walke not in craftynes, neyther corrupte we the word of God: but walke in open trueth, & reporte our selues to euerye mans conscience in the syght of God.

For we are not as many are which choppe & chaunge with the worde of god: but euen out of purenes, and by the power of God, and in the syghte of God, so speake we in Christe.

And Iesus aunswered and sayde vnto him: Simon I haue some what to saye vnto the. And he sayed: Maister saye on.

And when he was come into the way, there came one runnyng and kneled to him, & axed hym: good mayster, what shall I do, that I maye enheret eternall lyfe?

And forthe wt al he came to Iesus, and sayed: hayle mayster and kyssed hym.

And he sayde: go into the cytye vnto suche a man, & saye to hym: the mayster sayth my tyme is at hande, I wyll kepe myne easter at thy house wyth my disciples.

Like wyse the second and the thyrde vnto the seuenth.

saying: Mayster, Moyses bad, yf a man dye hauyng no chyldren, that the brother marye hys wyfe, and reyse vp seed vnto hys brother.

Therfore wil I also make you to be despised, and to be of no reputacion among al the people, because ye haue not kepte my wayes, but bene parcial in the lawe.

The law of truth was in his mouth and there was no wickednesse founde in hys lippe. He walcked with me in peace & equite, and dyd turne manye one awaye from their synnes.

Whoso flattereth hys neyghboure, layeth a nette for hys fete.

Their mouthes are softer then butter, & yet haue they battayll in theyr mynde: theyr wordes are smoother then oyle, and yet be they very swerdes.

Euery man telleth lyes too his neyghbour, they do but flatter with their lyppes and dissemble in their herte.

For there is no faithfulnesse in their mouthes: they dessemble in their hertes: their throt is an open sepulcher: with their tonges thy disceaue.

And Mycheah sayde: as surely as the Lorde lyueth, what the Lorde putteth in my mouthe, that wil I speake.

He that saith vnto hys father and mother. I saw hym not and vnto hys brethren, I knewe not, and to hys sonne I wot not: for they haue obserued thy worde and kepte thy testamente.

And they sente vnto hym certayne of the Pharyseis with Herodes seruauntes to take hym in hys wordes.
