While he thus thought, behold the Aungel of the Lord appered vnto him in a dreame, sainge: Ioseph thou sonne of Dauid. fear not to take vnto the Mary thy wife. For that which is conceyued in her is of the holye Ghost.

And thorowe his craftynes, falshed shall prospere in his hande, hys herte shalbe proude, and many one shall be put to deathe in his welthinesse. He shall stand vp against the Prince of Princes, but he shalbe destroyed wythoute hande.

But when he hearde that Archelaus did raygne in Iurye, in the roume of his father Herode, he was afraide to go thither. Notwithstanding after he was warned of God in a dreame, he turned a syde into the partyes of Galile,

The tentes of his palace shall be pytch betwyxte the two seas, vpon the hill of the noble Sanctuarye, for he shall come to the ende of it, & then shal no man helpe him.

Therfore tell them, thus sayth the Lorde God: I wyll sende you farre of amonge the Gentyles, and scatre you amonge the nacyons, & I wyll halowe you but a lytle, in the landes where ye shal come.

And as for the, O my seruaunt Iacob, feare not (sayth the Lord) and be not afrayed, O Israell. For lo, I wyll helpe the also from farre, and thy sede from the lande of theyre captiuite. And Iacob shall turne agayne, he shalbe in rest, and haue a prosperous lyfe, and no man shal make hym afrayed.

Yea I, I am euen he, that in all thynges geueth you consolacion. What arte thou then, that fearest a mortal man, the chylde of man, whiche goeth awaye as doeth the floure?

Whither shal I go then from thy sprete? or, whyther shall I go then frome thy presence?

When thou punyshest one man, he muste knowledge that thou arte readye to punyshe other mo.

sayinge: arise and take the childe and his mother, & go into the lande of Israel. For they are dead which sought the childes life.

When he was set doune to geue iudgement hys wyfe sent to hym saying: haue thou nothing to do with that iust man. For I haue suffered manye thynges thys daye in a dreame about hym.

But the Aungell of the Lorde by nyght opened the prison dores, and broughte them forth, & sayed:
