Thus sayth the Lorde: The voyce of heuynes, wepinge and lamentacyon came vp into heauen: euen of Rachell mournynge for her chyldren, and wolde not be comforted, because they were awaye.

For (me thincke) I heare a noyse like as it were of a woman trauaylyng, or one laboringe of her fyrste chylde. Euen the voyce of the doughter of Syon, that casteth oute her armes, and souneth, sayenge: Ah wo is me, how sore vexed and faynte is my herte for them that are slayne?

& the hande opened it before me, & it was wrytten within & wythout, full of carefull mournynges: alas, and wo.

and went agayne vnto his brethren saying: the lad is not yonder, & whether shall I go?

And I behelde and hearde an angell fliynge thorowe the middes of heauen, sayinge wyth a loude voyce: Wo, wo, to the inhabiters of the earth, because of the voyces to come of the trompe of the .iij. angels, whyche were yet to blowe.

But as for man, when he is deed, perysshed and consumed awaye, what becommeth of hym?

And Iacob their father said vnto them: Me haue ye robbed of my chyldren: Ioseph is away, and Symeon is awaye, and ye wyll take Ben Iamin awaye. All these thynges fall vpon me.

Then was fulfylled that which was spoken by the prophete Ieremy sayinge:

Euerye bodye wepe and sorowed for her. And he sayd: Wepe not: for she is not dead but slepeth.
