and sayd: for this thynge, shall a man leaue father and mother & cleaue vnto his wyfe, & thei twayne but one flesh.

The wyfe hath not power ouer her owne bodie, but the husbande. And lykewyse the man hath not power ouer his owne bodye, but the wyfe.

Neuerthelesse to avoide fornication, let euery man haue his wyfe: and let euerye woman haue her husbande.

For this cause shall a man leaue father and mother, and shall continue wyth hys wyfe, and two shalbe made one fleshe.

Do ye not vnderstande, that he whiche coupleth him selfe with an harlot, is become one body? For two (sayth he) shalbe one flesh.

Herken (O daughter) considre, & enclyne thyne eare: forget thyne owne people, & thy fathers house.

Let loue be without dissimulacyon. Hate that whiche is euyll, and cleaue vnto that which is good.

My soule hangeth vpon the, thy ryghte hande vpholdeth me.

And when he had made an ende of speaking vnto Saul, the soule of Ionathas was knit wyth the soule of Dauid. In so much that he loued hym as hys owne soule.

For if ye shall kepe al these commaundementes whiche I commaund you, so that ye do them, & loue the Lord your God, and walke in all his waies & cleaue vnto him.

Thou shalt feare thy Lord thy God & serue him, and cleaue vnto him, & sweare by his name,

But ye that claue vnto the Lorde your God are alyue euery one of you this day.

and his herte lay vnto Dina the daughter of Iacob. And he loued that damsell, & spake kyndly vnto hyr,

even of nacyons of whiche the Lorde sayde vnto the chyldren of Israell, se ye come not at them, nor let them come to you: for surely they wyll turne youre hertes after theyr Goddes. Neuerthelesse to such Salomon claue and fell in loue with them.

Woo is me for the my brother Ionathas: delectable to me wast thou excedyng. Thy loue to me was wonderfull, passyng the loue of wemen.

So dyd not the one, and yet had he an excellente spirite. What dyd then the one? He sought the sede promised of God. Therfore loke well to your spirit, and let no man despise the wyfe of his youth.

Wherefore now are they not twaine, but one fleshe. Let not man therefore put a sunder, that whiche God hath couppled together.

Dauid also toke Ahinoam of Iesrahel, and they were bothe his wyues.
