And she went forth & sayde to her mother: what shal I axe? And she said: Ihon Baptistes head.

The bloude thyrstye hate the ryghtuous, but the iust seke his soule.

For their fete runne to euel, & are hasty to shed bloud.

in so muche that when Iezabel destroyed the Prophetes of the Lorde, he toke an hundred of the Prophetes and hyd them, fyftye in one caue, and fyftye in another, and prouyded breade and water for them.

And hys offeryng whych he broughte was a syluer charger of an hundred and .xxx. sycles weyght: and a siluer boule of .lxx. sycles of the holy sicle: & both full of fyne floure myngled wyth oyle for a meatofferynge:

And hys offeryng was: a syluer charger, of an hundred and .xxx. sycles weyght: & a syluer boule of .lxx. sycles of the holy sicle, both of them ful of fyne wheten floure myngled wyth oyle for a meatofferynge:

And this is the numbre of them: thyrtye basens of gold, and a thousand basens of siluer, and nine and twenty knyues,

Wherefore he promysed with an othe, that he woulde geue her whatsoeuer she woulde axe.

And the king sorowed. Neuertheles for hys othe sake, & for theyr sakes that satte at also at the table, he commaunded it to be geuen her:

and hys headde was brought in a platter and geuen to the damsel, and she brought it to her mother.

And she came in straight way with haste vnto the kynge, and axed saying: I wil that thou geue me by and by in a charger the head of Ihon Baptist.

and brought his head in a charger, and gaue it to the mayden, and the maiden gaue it to her mother.
