He that was sowen among thornes, is he that heareth the worde of God: but the care of thys world, and the disceythfulnes of ryches choke the word, & so is he made vnfruteful.

Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them,

And that whiche fell amonge thornes, are thei which heare, and go forth, and are choked with cares and with ryches, and voluptuouse liuinge, and bringe forth no fruite.

Wherfore, he sayde vnto them: take hede, and beware of coueteousnes. For no mannes lyfe standeth in the abundaunce of the thynges whiche he possesseth.

For Demas hath left me & hath loued this present worlde, and is departed into Thessalonica. Crescens is gone to Galacia, & Titus vnto Dalmacea.

Some fel among thornes, & the thornes sprong vp and chooked it.

So is it with hym that gathereth ryches, and is not ryche in God.

Lo, this is the man, that toke not God for his strength but trusted vnto the multitud of his riches, & was myghty in his wickednes.

Take hede to your selues, lest youre hertes be ouercome with surfetinge and dronkenes and cares of this worlde: and that that day come not on you vnwares.

For thus sayeth the Lorde, to al Iuda and Ierusalem: plowe your lande, and sowe not amonge the thornes.

He that trusteth in hys ryches shall haue a fall, but the righteous shall florish as the grene leaf.

O trust not in wronge and robbery, geue not youre selues vnto vanitye: if ryches encrease, set not your herte vpon them.

When Simon saw that thorow laiyng on of the Apostles handes on them, the holy ghoste was geuen, he offred them money

There is one man, no mo but him self alone, hauing neither childe nor brother: yet is there no ende of his carefull trauayle, hys eyes can not be satysfied with ryches, (yet doth he not remembre him selfe, & saye:) For whome do I take such trauayle? For whose pleasure do I thus consume away my lyfe? This is also a vayne & miserable thynge.

Why wylt thou set thyne eie vpon the thing, which sodenly vanysheth awaye? For ryches make them selues wynges, & take their flight lyke an Aegle into the ayre.

And whosoeuer speaketh a worde against the sonne of man, it shall be forgeuen him. But whosoeuer speaketh againste the holye ghost, it shall not be forgeuen him: no, neyther in this worlde, neyther in the worlde to come.

And the enemy that soweth them is the deuell. The Haruest is the ende of the worlde. And the reapers be the Aungels.

For euen as the tares are gaddred and brent in the fyre: so shall it be in the ende of thys worlde.

And fashyon not youre selues lyke vnto thys worlde. But be ye chaunged in youre shape, by the renuynge of youre wyttes, that ye may fele what thynge that good, that acceptable, and perfect wyll of God is.

Where is the wyse? Where is the scribe? Where is the searcher of this worlde?

That we speake of, is wisdome amonge that are perfecte: not the wisdome of this world (whiche go to nought)

whiche wisdome none of the rulars of this worlde knewe. For had they knowen it, they would not haue crucified the Lorde of Glorye.

Let no man deceyue hym selfe. Yf anye man seme, wyse amonge you, let hym be a fole in thys worlde that he maye be wyse.

in whome the God of thys worlde hath blynded the myndes of them which beleue not, leste the lyght of the gloryous gospell of Christe which is the ymage of God shoulde shyne vnto them.

whiche gaue hym selfe for oure synnes, to delyuer vs from thys present euyll worlde, thorow the wyll of God our father,

in the whiche in time passed, yet walked accordynge to the course of thys worlde, & after the gouerner that ruleth in the ayer, the spyrite that nowe worketh in the chyldren of vnbelefe,
