Wherfore if ye had wist what this sayinge meaneth: I require mercye and not sacrifyce: ye would neuer haue condemned innocentes:

For I haue pleasure in louinge kindnesse, and not in offerynge: yea, in the knoweledge of God, more then in burnt sacryfyce.

Go, and learne, what that meaneth: I haue pleasure in mercye, & not in offerynge. For I am not come to cal the ryghtuouse but the synners to repentaunce.

The Lord hateth as wel hym that iustifyeth the vngodly, as him that condemneth the innocent,

The inhabiters of Ierusalem & theyr rulers, because they knowe him not, nor yet the voices of the prophetes which are reade euerye Saboth daye, they haue fulfylled them in condempnyng hym.

Iesus answered & sayd vnto them: ye are deceyued and vnderstande not the scriptures, nor yet the power of God.

They gather them together agaynste the soule of the righteous, and condemne the innocent bloude.

Ye haue condempned, & haue kylled the iuste, & he hath not resisted you.

For he standeth at the ryght hand of the pore, to saue hym from suche as condempne hys soule.

And wyth Iobs thre frindes he was angry also, because they had founde no reasonnable answere to ouercome him.

Then sayde Samuel: hath the Lorde as great pleasure in burnt sacryfyces & offerynges, as he hath that thou shouldest obeye hys voyce? Beholde, to obeye is better then offeryng, and to geue heade is better then the fat of rammes.

And to loue hym with all the herte, and with al the mynd, and with all the soule, & with all the strength. and to loue a mans neyghbour as hym selfe, is a greater thyng then all burntoffrynges & sacrifices.

Nowe al the people that came out were circumcysed. But all the people that were borne in the wildernesse by the way after thei came out of Egypt, they circumcised not.
