And he sayde vnto them: wel, ye caste aside the commaundement of God too maintayne your owne tradicions.

I despyse not the grace of God. For yf ryghteousnes come of the lawe, then Christ dyed in vayne

For the earth is corrupt of her indwellers. For why? they haue offended the law chaunged the ordynaunces, & made the euerlasting testament of none effecte.

Therfor thus sayth the Lord: For so much as thys people draweth nye me with theyr mouthe, and prayseth me hyghlye wyth theyr lyppes (where as theyr herte neuerthelesse is farre from me, & the feare which they owe vnto me, that turne they to mens lawes and doctrynes)

makynge the worde of God of none effect, thorowe youre owne tradicions, which you haue ordeyned. And many suche thinges ye do.

For the Phariseis and all the Iewes, except thei wash their handes ofte, eate not obseruinge the tradicions of the elders.

It is tyme for the (O Lord) to lay to thine hande, for they haue destroyed thy lawe.

whiche is an aduersarye, and is exalted aboue all that is called God, or that is worshypped: so that he shall sytte as God in the temple of God, and shewe hym selfe as God.

Do we then destroye the lawe thorowe fayth? God forbyd. But we rather mayntayne the lawe.

The kinge shal do what him lyst, he shal exalte and magnifye him selfe agaynste all, that is God. Yea he shall speake maruelous thinges against the God of al goddes, wherin he shall prospere, so longe till the wrathe be fulfilled, for the conclusyon is deuysed alredy.

He shall subdue thre Kynges, and shal speake wordes against the hyest of all: he shall destroy the saintes of the most hyest, and thincke, that he may chaunge tymes and lawes. They shalbe geuen vnder his power, vntill a time, two tymes, and half a tyme.

Then axed hym the Phariseis and Scribes, why walke not thy disciples accordynge to the tradicions of the elders, but eate breade with vnwashen handes?

For yf he that commeth, preache another Iesus then hym whom we preached: or yf ye receyue another spiryte then that whiche ye haue receyued: other another Gospell then that ye haue receyued, ye myght ryghte well haue bene content.

and preuayled in the Iewes lawe, aboue many of my companyons, which were of myne own nacyon, & was a much more feruent mayntayner of the tradicions of the elders.
