Is it not lawful for me to do as me lusteth with myne owne? Is thyne eye euel because I am good?

Lykewyse ye yonger submit youre selues vnto the elder. Submit youre selues euerye man, one to another, knyt youre selues together in lowlines of mynde. For God resisteth the proude & geueth grace to humble.

For so is the wyll of God, that ye put to sylence the ignorauncye of the folyshe men:

wherewith we ouerthrowe Imaginations and euerye hye thynge that exalteth it selfe agaynste the knoweledge of God, and brynge into captiuite all vnderstandynge to the obedience of Christe,

But and if thyne eye be wycked then al thy bodye shalbe ful of darkenes. Wherfore if the light that is in the, be darkenes: how great is that darckenes?

I aplied my minde also vnto knowledg, and to seke out science wysdome and vnderstandynge: to know the foolishnesse of the vngodly, and the erroure of dotynge fooles.

He that wyll be ritch all to soone, hath an euell eye, and considereth not, that pouertye shall come vpon him.

Though thou shouldest bray a foole wyth a pestell in morter like otemel, yet wyll not his folyshnesse go from hym.

The thoughte of the folysh is synne, & the scorneful is an abhominacion vnto men.

Eat not thou wt the enuious, & desire not his meat,

Foolishnes sticketh in the herte of the lad, but the rod of correccion dryueth it awaye.

He that hath vnderstanding, can hyde his wisdome: but an vndiscrete hert telleth oute hys folishnesse.

The vngodlye is so proude and full of indignacyon, that he careth not mether is God before hys eyes.

But when the Ambassadoures of the Lordes of Babylon were sent to hym to enquyre of the wondre that chaunsed in the land, God lefte hym: to tempte hym, that all that was in hys herte myght be knowen.

Yea, and the woman that is so tender & delycate among you that she dare not aduenture to sett the sole of her foote vpon the grounde for softnesse and tendernesse, shalbe greued to loke on the husbande that lyeth in her bosome and on her sonne & on her daughter:

so that it shal greue the man that is tender and exceadynge delycate amonge you, to loke on hys brother and vpon his wyfe that lyeth in hys bosome, & on the remnaunte of his chyldren which he hath yet lefte,

And beware that there be not a poynt of Belial in thine hert, that thou wouldest say. The seuenth yere, the yere of fredome is at hand, & therfore it greues the to loke on thy poore brother and geuest hym nought & he then cry vnto the Lord againste the, and it be synne vnto the:

Enclyne myne herte vnto thy testymonies, and not to couetousnes.

Their fete runne to euyll, & they make haste to shed innocent bloude. Their councels are wycked councel, harme and destruccion are in their wayes.

Namely transgresse and dissemble agaynst the Lorde, and fall awaye from oure God: vsinge presumptuous and trayterous ymaginacions, and castynge false matters in oure hertes.

Amonge all thynges lyuinge, man hath the moste disceytfull and vnsercheable herte. Who shall then knowe it?

For from within, euen out of the herte of men, procede euel thoughtes: aduoutry, fornication, murther,

all these euell thinges come from within and defile a man.
