When Iesus heard that, he sayde vnto them: The whole haue no nede of the phisicyon, but the sicke. I came not to call the righteous, but the synners to repentaunce.
I saye vnto you, that lykewyse ioye shalbe in heauen ouer one synner, that repenteth, more then ouer nyntye and nyne iust persons whiche nede no repentaunce.
Let the vngodly man forsake his wayes & the vnrighteous his ymaginacions, & turne agayne vnto the Lorde: so shall he be mercyfull vnto him: & to oure God, for he is redy to forgeue.
He aunswered and sayde to his father: Loo this many yeares haue I done the seruice, neyther brake at any tyme thy commaundement, & yet gauest thou me neuer so muche as a kyd to make mery with my louers:
Nowe go to (sayth the Lorde) we will talke together. Is it not so? Thoughe youre synnes be as reade as scarlet, shal they not be whyther then snowe? And though they were lyke purple, shall they not be lyke white wolle?
And he sayde vnto them: Ye are they whiche iustifye your selues before men: but God knoweth your hertes. For that which is highly estemed amonge men, is abhominable in the syght of God.
Se that ye not dispise not one of these litelones. For I saye vnto you, that in heauen their aungels alwaies behold the face of my father which is in heauen.
but shewed fyrst vnto them of Damasco, and at Hierusalem and through out all the coastes of Iewry, and to the gentyls, that they should repent, & tourne to God, and do the ryght workes of repentaunce.
