And when the Scrybes and pharyses sawe hym eate wyth Publicans and synners, they sayde vnto hys discyples: howe is it that he eateth and drinketh with Publicans and synners?

For the sonne of man is come to seke, and to saue that which was loste.

The Pharyse stode and prayed thus with hym selfe: God I thanke the, that I am not as other men are, extorsioners, vniust, aduouterers, or as this publican,

But he that is spyrytuall, discusseth all thinges: yet he hym selfe is iudged of no man.

And there arose a great crye, and the Scrybes whiche were of the Phariseys parte arose and stroue, saiyng: we fynde none euyll in thys man. Thoughe a spirite or an angell haue appeared to hym, let vs not stryue agaynst God.

And when they sawe that, they al groundged saiyng: He is gone into tarye with a man that is a synner.

Yf thou comest nye them, they saye, touch me not, for I am holyer then thou. All these men when I am angry, shalbe turned to smoke and fyre, that shall burne for euer.

Consydre therfore how that he endureth such speakyng agaynst him of synners least ye should be weryed and faynte in youre myndes.

how doth thys felowe so blaspheme? Who can forgeue synnes, but God onelye?

If he heare not them, tell it vnto the congregacion. If he heare not the congregacion, take hym as a Heathen man, & as a publican.

When the Phariseis sawe that, they sayed to hys disciples: why eateth your master with Publicans and synners?

For if ye loue them, whiche loue you: what rewarde shall ye haue? Doo not the publicanes euen so?

And it came to passe as Iesus sate at meate in his house, many publicans and synners sate at meat also with Iesus and hys discyples. For there were many that folowed hym.

And the scribes and pharyseis murmured againste his disciples saiynge: Why eate ye, and drinke ye with publicans and sinners?
