Mark 13:8

Matthew's Bible 1537

For there shall nacyon aryse agaynst nacyon, and kingdom agaynst kyngdome. And there shalbe earthquakes in all quarters, & famyshment and troubles. These are the begynnynge of sorowes.

& they sayde vnto hym: Thus sayeth Hezekiah: This is the daye of trouble, of plage and of wrath: lyke as when a chylde cometh to the byrth, but the woman hath no power to brynge it forth.

Feare came there vpon them, and sorow as vpon a woman in her trauayle.

And there wente out another horsse that was red, and power was geuen to him that sate theron, to take peace from the earth, and that they should kyl one another. And there was geuen vnto hym a greate swerde.

When they shal say peace and no daunger, then commeth on them soden destruccion, as the trauaylynge of a woman wyth chyld, and they shal not escape.

And there stode vp one of them, named Agabus, and signified by the spyrite that there shoulde be greate derth thorowe out all the world, whiche came to passe in the Emperour Claudius daies.

In that day shal the Lorde make a great sedicion amonge them, so that one man shal take another by the hande, & lay his handes vpon the handes of his neighbour.

and ouerthrowe the seat of the kyngedomes, yea; & destroye the myghtye kyngedome of the heathen. I wyll ouerthrow the charettes, and those that syt vpon them, so that both horse and man shall fall doune, euerye man thorowe hys neyghbours swearde.

As sone as the kyng of Babylon heareth tell of them, hys handes shall waxe feable: Sorowe and heuynes shal come vpon him, as a woman trauelynge wyth chylde.

Damascus shalbe sore afrayed, and shall fle, tremblynge shall come vpon her. Sorowe and payne shall ouertake her as a woman trauaylynge of chylde.

For thus sayeth the Lorde of hostes: Beholde, a miserable plage shall go from one people to another, and a greate stormye water shall aryse from all the endes of the earth.

that thou dwellest vpon Libanus, & makest thy neste in the Cedre trees. O how greate shall thy mourning be, when thy sorowes come vpon the, as a woman trauelynge with chylde?

To whom wylt thou make thy mone, when they come vpon the? for thou hast taught them thy selfe, and made them maysters ouer the. Shall not sorowe come vpon the, as on a woman trauaylinge with childe:

Then shall thys crye be heard: Our armes are feble, heuynes & sorowe is come vpon vs, as vpon a woman trauaylynge with chylde.

For thus sayeth the Lord: I wil stere vp the Egypcyans one agaynste another among them selues, so that one shalbe euer against his brother & neyghbour, yea one city against another, & one kingdome against another.

For (me thincke) I heare a noyse like as it were of a woman trauaylyng, or one laboringe of her fyrste chylde. Euen the voyce of the doughter of Syon, that casteth oute her armes, and souneth, sayenge: Ah wo is me, how sore vexed and faynte is my herte for them that are slayne?

For one nacion shal destroye another, and one cytye another: for God wyl trounce them wyth aduersyte.

Thou shalte be vysyted of the Lorde of hostes with thondre, earthequake, & wyth a greate crack, with the whyrle wynde, tempeste, & with the flamme of a consumynge fyre.

When ye shal heare of warre, and tydynges of warre, be ye not troubled. For suche thynges muste nedes be. But the ende is not yet.

But take ye hede to your selues. For they shall brynge you vp to the counsels, and into the synagoges, & ye shall be beaten: ye & shalbe broughte forthe rulers & kynges for my sake for a testimoniall vnto them.
