Mark 12:1

Matthew's Bible 1537

And he began to speake vnto them in simylitudes. A certayne man planted a vyneyarde, and compaste it wyth an hedge, and ordeyned a wyne presse, & buylde a tower in it. And let it oute to hyre vnto housband men, & went into a straunge countreye.

As a man whiche is gone into a straunge countreye, and hath left hys house, and geuen authorite to his seruauntes, and euerye man hys worke, and commaunded the porter to watche.

And he taughte them manye thynges in similitudes: and sayde vnto them in hys doctrine.

Lykewyse as a certayne man, redye to take iorney to a straunge countre, called hys seruauntes and delyuered to them his goodes.

This is he that was in the congregation, in the wyldernes wyth the aungell, whyche spake to hym in the mounte Syna, and wyth oure fathers. This man receiued the worde of lyfe to geue vnto vs,

He sayde therfore: a certayne noble man wente into a farre countre, to receyue him a kyngdome, and then to come agayne.

And not longe after, the yonger sonne gathered all that he had together, & toke hys iorneye into a farre countrye, & there he wasted hys goodes with ryetous liuing.

And he sayed vnto you is it geuen to knowe the secretes of the kingdome of God: but to other in symylytudes, that when they se, they shoulde not vnderstande.

What saye ye to thys? A certayne man had two sonnes, and came to the elder and sayde: sonne go and worke to daye in my vyneyarde.

Then saide I: O Lord they will saye of me: Tush, they are but fables, that he telleth.

where as I planted the out of noble grapes & good rotes. How art thou turned then into a bitter, vnfrutefull, and straunge grape?

At the same tyme all vyneyardes (thoughe there be a thousande vynes in one, and were solde for a thousande syluerlynges) shalbe turned to brears and thornes.

They said to hym: Where wilt thou that we prepare?

And he spake many thinges to them in symilitudes, saying, beholde, the sower went forth to sowe.

Herken another similitude. There was a certayne housholder, which planted a vyneyard, and hedged it rounde aboute and made a wynepresse in it, and buylt a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a straunge countrey.

And when the tyme of the frute drewe neare, he sente hys seruauntes to the husbandmen to receyue the fruytes of it.

And he called them vnto hym, and sayd vnto them in similitudes. How can Sathan dryue out Satan?

And they aunswered and sayd vnto Iesus: we can not tell. And Iesus aunswered and sayed vnto them, neyther wyll I tell you, by what authoritie I do those thynges.
