The Iewes aunswered him, saiynge: For thy good workes sake we stone the not, but for thy blasphemye, and because that thou beynge a man, makest thy selfe God.
Therfore I confessed my sinne vnto the & hyd not myne vnryghtuousnes. I sayde: I wyll knowledge myne offence and accuse my selfe vnto the Lord, & so thou forgauest me the wickednesse of my synne Selah.
And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall dye for it: all the multitude shall stone him to death. And the straunger as well as the Israelyte if he curse the name, shal dye for it.
O Lorde, heare. O forgeue Lorde. O Lorde consydre, tarye not ouer longe: but for thyne owne sake do it. O my God: for the citie and thy people is called after thy name.
Nowe go to (sayth the Lorde) we will talke together. Is it not so? Thoughe youre synnes be as reade as scarlet, shal they not be whyther then snowe? And though they were lyke purple, shall they not be lyke white wolle?
And it happened on a certayne daye, that he taught, and there sate the phariseis and the doctours of lawe, which were come out of all the tounes of Galyle, Iurye, and Hierusalem. And the power of the Lorde was to heale them.
Bringe forth due frutes of repentaunce, and begin not to saye in your selues, we haue Abraham to our father: For I say vnto you God is able of these stones to rayse vp chyldren vnto Abraham.
