The spyryte of the Lorde vpon me, because he hath anointed me: to preache the gospell to the poore he hath sent me, and to heale the broken herted, to preache deliueraunce to the captiue, and syght to the blynde, and frely to set at lyberte them that are brused,

The spirite of the Lorde God is with me, for the Lorde hath annointed me, & sent me, to preache good tydinges vnto the poore, that I myght binde vp the wounded hertes, that I myght preach delyueraunce to the captyue, and open the preson to them that are bounde:

The blinde se, the halt go, the lepers are clensed: the deaf heare, the dead ryse againe, and the glade tydinges is preached to the poore.

howe God had annoynted Iesus of Nazareth wyth the holy ghost, and wyth power. Whiche Iesus went about doynge good, and healinge all that were oppressed of the deuils for God was wyth him.

And Iesus aunswered and saide vnto them: Go your wayes and shewe Ihon what thinges ye haue seane and hearde: howe that the blynd se, the halt go, the lepers are clensed, the deafe heare, the dead aryse, to the poore is glad tydinges preached,

to open theyr eyes, that they myght turne from darckenes to lyght, and from the power of Satan vnto God: that they maye receiue forgeuenes of synnes, and inheritaunce amonge them whyche are sanctyfyed by fayth in me.

That thou mayest open the eyes of the blynde, let out the prisoners, & them that syt in darknesse, out of the dongeon house.

I am come a lyght into the worlde, that whosoeuer beleueth on me, shoulde not byde in darknes.

But ye are a chosen generacyon, a royall priesthode, an holye nacyon and a peculyar people that ye shoulde shewe the vertues of hym that called you oute of darkenes into his marueylous lyght,

Which hath deliuered vs from the power of darcknes and hath translated vs into the kyngdome of his deare sonne,

the people which sate in darkenes, sawe great light, & to them which sate in the regyon and shadowe of death, light is begonne to shine.

The eyes of the seynge shall not be dymme, & the eares of them that heare, shall take dylygente hede.

He healeth the contryte in herte, and byndeth vp their woundes.

Then shall the eyes of the blynde be lyghtened, & the eares of the deafe opened.

blessed are the pore in sprete: for theirs is the kingdom of heauen.

And he lyfte vp his eye vpon the disciples, and sayde: Blessed be ye pore: for yours is the kyngdome of God.

But vnto you that feare my name, shall the Sonne of ryghteousnesse aryse, and healthe shalbe vnder his winges: ye shal go forth, & multipply as the fat calues.

Harken my deare beloued brethren. Hath not God chosen the pore of thys world, which are ryche in faythe, and heyres of the kyngedome whiche he promysed to them that loue hym?

For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the wordes of God: For God geueth not the spirite by measure.

I wyll make this couenaunt with them (sayeth the Lorde): My spirite that is come vpon the, and the wordes whyche I haue put in thy mouthe, shall neuer go out of thy mouthe, nor oute of the mouth of thy childers chyldren, from this tyme forth for euermore.

The Lorde God hath geuen me a wel learned tunge, so that I can comforte them whiche are troubled, yea & that in due ceason. He waked myne eare vp by tymes in the mornynge (as the scolemasters do) that I myght herken.

That he maye heare the mournynges of such as be in captiuitie, and deliuer the chyldren of death.

.Lxx. weakes are determed ouer thy people, and ouer the holy citie: that the wickednesse maye be consumed, that the sinne maye haue an ende, that the offence may be reconcyled, and to bringe in euerlastinge righteousnesse, to fulfill the visions and the Prophetes, and to annoynte the most holy one.

For thus sayeth the hye and excellent, euen he that dwelleth in euerlastingnesse, whose name is the holy one. I dwell hye aboue & in the sanctuary, and with him also, that is of a contrite & humble spirite: that I maye heale a troubled mind, & a contrite hert.

That thou mayest saye to the presonners: go forth, & to them that are in darknesse: come into the lyght, that they may fede in the hye wayes, and get theyr lyuynge in all places.

I shall wake hym vp with ryghtuousnesse, & ordre all hys wayes. He shall buylde my cytye, and lett out my prisoners: and that nether for gyft nor rewardes, sayeth the Lorde of Hostes.

The Lorde is nye vnto them that are contryte in hert, and will helpe suche as be of an humble sprete.

Yet haue I sette my kyng vpon my holy hyll of syon.

In the also will I leaue a small poore simple people, which shal trust in the name of the Lorde.

The kynges of the earth stande vp, and the rulers are come to gether, agaynste the Lorde and agaynste hys anoynted.

The same founde his brother Simon fyrst, and sayde vnto him: we haue founde Messias, which is by interpretation, anointed:

a brosed rede shalnot he breake, & flaxe the beginneth to burne he shal not quenche, tyll he sende forth iudgemen vnto to victory,

The sacryfice of God is a troubled spirit a broken and a contrite hert, O God, shalte thou not despyse.

And so it was broken in that daye. Then the poore simple shepe that had a respecte vnto me, knewe therby, that it was the word of the lord.

and the Lorde sayde vnto hym: Go thy waye thorow the cytie of Ierusalem, and set thys marcke Than vpon the foreheades of them, that mourne & are sory for all the abhomynacyons, that be done therin.

As for these thynges, my hande had made them all, and they are all created, sayeth the Lorde. Whyche of them shall I then regarde? Euen hym, that is of a lowly troubled spyryte, and standeth in awe of my wordes.

Moreouer, I wyll put hatred betwene the & the woman, & betwene thy seed and her seed. And that seed shall tread the on thy heed, and thou shalt treade it on the hele.

For of a trueth againste thy holy childe Iesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herode and also Poncius Pilate, with the Gentyls & the people of Israel, gathered them selues together,

Thou hast loued righteousnesse, & hated iniquitie: wherfore God (which is thy God) hath anoynted the with the oyle of gladnes aboue thy felowes.

Because thyne hert dyd melt & thou dydest meke thy selfe before God, when thou heardest his wordes agaynst this place and agaynste the enhabiters therof: & humbledest thy selfe before me, and tarest thy clothes and wepest before me, that haue I hearde also sayth the Lorde.

Beholde my chylde, whom I haue chosen my beloued, in whom my soule delyteth. I wyll put my sprryte on him, and he shall shew iudgement to the gentils.

And there was delyuered vnto hym the boke of the prophete Esayas. And when he had opened the boke, he founde the place wher it was written:

The kinges of the earth stode vp and the rulers came together, againste Lorde and agaynste his Chryste.
