Then said Pilate to the hye pryestes, & to the people: I fynde no faute in this man.

Pylate sayde vnto hym: what thynge is trueth? And when he had sayd that, he wente oute agayne to the Iewes, and sayd vnto them: I fynd in him no cause at al.

whiche dyd no synne, neyther was there gyle founde in hys mouth:

but wyth the precyous bloud of christ as of a lambe vndefyled, and wythout spotte,

He saide vnto them the thirde tyme. What euill hath he done? I fynde no cause of death in him. I will therfore chasten him, & let him louse.

Pylate said vnto them: what euyl hath he done? And they cryed the more feruentlye: Crucifye hym.

For as much as Christ hath ones suffered for sinners, the iuste for the vniuste, for to bringe vs to God, and was kylled, as perteininge to the fleshe: but was quickened in the spirite.

Suche an hye Prieste it became vs to haue which is holy, harmlesse, vndefyled, separate from synners, and made hyer then heauen.

When he was set doune to geue iudgement hys wyfe sent to hym saying: haue thou nothing to do with that iust man. For I haue suffered manye thynges thys daye in a dreame about hym.

The God of Abraham Isaac and Iacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified hys sonne Iesu, whom ye delyuered and denyed in the presence of Pylate, when he had iudged hym to be lowsed.

Yet founde I nothinge worthy of death that he had committed. Neuertheles seynge that he hath appealed to Cesar: I haue determined to sende him.
