And the Lorde tourned backe and loked vpon Peter. And Peter remembred the wordes of the Lorde, howe he sayed vnto him, before the cocke crowe, thou shalt denye me thryse.

And he saide: I tell the Peter, the cocke shal crowe this daye, tyl thou haue thrise denied that thou knowest me.

that thou mayest thyncke vpon it, be ashamed, and excuse thine owne confusyon no more: when I haue forgeuen the, all that thou hast done, sayeth the Lorde God.

Suche a respecte hath he vnto men. Therfore let a man confesse (and saye) I offended, but he hath chastened and reformed me: I dyd vnryghteouslye, neuerthelesse he hath not recompensed me thereafter.

And when the Lorde sawe her, he had compassyon on her and saide vnto her, wepe not.

And Iesus immediatly felte in hym selfe, the vertu that went out of hym, and tourned him rounde about in the preace, & sayde: who touched my clothes?

And Peter remembred the wordes of Iesu whiche sayed vnto hym: before the cocke crowe, thou shalt deny me thryse. And went out at the dores and wept bitterlye.

Iesus sayde vnto hym: Verelye I saye vnto the that thys same nyghte before the cocke crowe thou shalte denye me thryse.

What greate thinges haue I geuen the, O Ephraim? how faythfully haue I defended the, O Israel? haue I dealt wt the as with Adama? or haue I entreated the lyke Seboim? No, my herte is otherwyse minded. Yea, my mercye is to feruent:

And Ihon called vnto him two of his discyples, and sente them to Iesus saiynge: Arte thou he that shall come? or shall we loke for another?

and Peter sayed: man I wote not what thou sayest. And immediatlye whyle he yet spake, that cocke crewe.

And Peter wente out, and wepte betterlye.
