Thus sayeth the Lorde vnto you. What vnfaythfulnesse founde youre fathers in me, that they wente so farre awaye from me, fallinge to lightnesse, and beynge so vaine?

Who so loueth wysdome, maketh his father a glad man: but he that kepeth harlottes, spendeth away that he hath.

He that hath pleasure in banckettes, shalbe a poore man: Who so deliteth in wyne and delicates, shall not be ryche.

Who so kepeth the lawe, is a childe of vnderstandynge: but he that fedeth ryotous men shameth hys father.

There was a certayne ryche man, whiche was clothed in purple and fyne bysse, & fared delyciously euery daye,

And he sayed also vnto his disciples. There was a certayne ryche man which had a steward that was accused vnto him: that he wasted hys goodes.

but assone as this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy goodes with harlotes, thou hast for his pleasure kylled the fatted caulfe.

O my people, what haue I done vnto the? or wherin haue I hurte the? geue me answere.

Yf ye be the people of the Lorde, then herken vnto this worde: Am I then become a wyldernesse vnto the people of Israel? or a lande that hath no light? Wherfore sayeth my people then: we are fallen of, and we wyl come no more vnto the?

For my people hath done two euyls. They haue forsaken me the well of the water of life and dygged them pyttes, yea vyle & broken pittes, that holde no water.

Come (saye they) I wil fetche wyne, so shall we fyll oure selues, that we maye be droncken. And to morowe, lyke as to daye, yea and much more.

Treade oute of the waye, go out of the path, turne the holye one of Israel from vs.

But they to fulfil their lust and wilfulnes, slaughter oxen: they kyll shepe, they eate costly meate, and drincke wyne, let vs eate and drincke, to morow we shall dye.

Alas for thys synfull people, whiche are ouerladen with blasphemyes, a frowarde generacyon, wicked chyldren. They haue forsaken the Lorde, they haue prouoked the holy one of Israell vnto anger, and are gone backwarde.

He that oft times flytteth, is like a bird that forsaketh her nest.

In a wyse mans house there is a greate treasure and a plenteousnesse, but a foolish body spendeth vp all.

Who so is slouthful & slacke in his laboure, is the brother of him that is a waster.

An harlot will make a man to begge his breade, but a maried woman wyl hunte for the precyous lyfe.

For lo, they that forsake the shall perysh: thou destroyest all them that committe fornicacion agaynst the.

and receiue the reward of vnrightuousnes. They count it pleasure to lyue deliciously for a season. Spottes they are and filthines, liuinge at pleasure, and in disceiueable waies feastinge with you,

and came and preached peace to you, whiche were a farre of, and to them that were nygh.

But nowe in Christ Iesu, ye whych a whyle ago were farre of are made nygh by the bloud of Christe.

and the yonger of them sayde to hys father: geue me my parte of the goodes that to me belongeth. And he deuyded vnto them hys substaunce.

And when he had spent all that he had, there arose a great dearth throughout all that same lande, & he began to lacke.
