Joshua 24:27

And Iosua sayde vnto all the people: beholde, thys stone shalbe a wytnesse vnto vs, for it hath hearde all the wordes of the Lorde whiche he spake wyth vs. It shalbe therfore a wytnesse vnto you, leste ye lye vnto youre God.

And then when much mischyefe and tribulation is come vpon them thys song shall answere before them, and be a wytnes. It shall not be forgotten out of the mouthes of theyr sede: for I know their imagination which they goo aboute euen nowe before I haue brought theym into the lande whych I sware.

They confesse that they knowe God: but wyth the dedes they denye hym, and are abhomynable and dysobedient, and vnto all good workes discommendable.

Now therfore wryte ye this song, & teach it the chyldren of Israell and putt it in theyr mouthes, that this song maye be my witnes vnto the children of Israel.

I cal to recorde thys daye vnto you, heauen and earth, that I haue set before you life and death, blessynge & cursinge: but chose lyfe, that thou, and thy sede may liue,

I cal heauen and earth to recorde vnto you thys day, that ye shal shortely perishe from of the lande whither ye go ouer Iordan to possesse it: ye shal not prolong your daies therin but shal shortly be destroyed.

I know thy workes. Beholde I haue set before the an open doore, and no man can shut it, for thou hast a lytel strength, and hast kept my saiynges: and hast not denyed my name,

so that the very stones of the wall shall crye oute of it, and the tymbre that lyeth betwixte the ioyntes of the buyldynge shal aunswere.

but euen a moneth longe, and vntyl it come oute at the nostrels of you, that ye be ready to parbrake: because that ye haue cast that Lorde asyde whyche is among you, and haue wepte before hym sayinge: why came we oute of Egypte.

And so Iosua let the people departe euery man vnto hys enherytaunce.

that were a wyckednesse worthy to be punished, for then I shoulde haue denyed the God that is aboue.

Namely transgresse and dissemble agaynst the Lorde, and fall awaye from oure God: vsinge presumptuous and trayterous ymaginacions, and castynge false matters in oure hertes.
