Joshua 24:15

But yf it seme euyll vnto you to serue the Lorde, then chose you thys day whom you wyll serue whether the Goddes whiche youre fathers serued that were on the other syde of the floude, eyther the Goddes of the Amorytes in whose lande, ye dwelte, and I & my house wyll serue the Lorde.

And Eliah came vnto all the people and sayde: why halte ye betwene two opinions? Yf the Lorde be very God, folowe him: or yf Baal be he, then folowe hym. And the people answered him not one worde.

Lest there be among you man or woman kynred or trybe, that turneth away in hys hert thys day from the Lord our God, to go and serue the goddes of these nacions: & lest there be amonge you some roote that beareth gall and wormwod,

Go now then (sayeth the Lorde God) ye house of Israel, cast awaye, and destroye euery man his Idoles: then shall ye heare me, & no more blaspheme my holie name with your offeringes and Idoles.

Which when he was come, and had sene the grace of God, was gladd, and exhorted them all that wyth purpose of hert they woulde continually cleaue vnto the Lorde.

se thou worship not their goddes neyther serue them, neither do after the workes of them but ouerthrowe them & breake doune the places of them.

And I said vnto you: I am the Lorde your God, & therfore fear not the Goddes of the Amorytes, in whose lande you dwel. But you haue not obeyed my voice

For I know him that he wyl commaunde his chyldren & his houshold after him, that they kepe the way of the Lord, to do after ryght & conscience that the Lord may brynge vpon Abraham that he hath promysed hym.

O let me haue vnderstandynge in the way of Godlynesse vntyll the tyme that thou come vnto me: and so shall I walcke in my house wyth an innocent herte.

I haue sworne and am stedfastly purposed, to kepe the iudgementes of thy righteousnesse.

lest if thou make any agremente wyth the inhabiters of the lande, when they go a whorynge after theyr Gods and do sacrifice vnto theyr Goddes, they cal the and thou eate of theyr sacrifyce:

Then sayd Iacob vnto hys houshold & to all that were with him, put away the straunge Goddes that are amonge you, and make your selues cleane, and chaunge your garmentes,

And the people aunswered and sayd, God forbyd that we shulde forsake the Lorde and serue straunge Goddes.

And thoughe he wyll not, yet shalte thou knowe (O kynge) that we wil not serue thy Goddes, nor do reuerence to the Image, whiche thou haste set vp.

Therfore, where as all the people haue walcked euery man in the name of hys owne God, we wyll walcke in the name of oure God for euer and euer.

Thou shalt not folowe a multitude to do euell: neyther answere in a matter of plea that thou (wouldest to folow manye) turne asyde from the trueth,

And let them take other stones, & put them in the places of those stones, and other morter, and plaster the house wyth al.
