And nowe feare the Lorde and serue hym in purenesse and truthe: And put awaye the Goddes which youre fathers serued on the other syde of the floude, and in Egypt, & serue the Lorde.

Onelye feare you the Lorde and serue hym truly with all your hertes: for se, he hath done great thynges for you.

And now Israel what is it that the Lord thy God requireth of the, but to feare the lord thy God and to walke in all hys wayes & to loue him & to serue the Lord thy God with al thyne herte, & with al thy soule,

Then sayd Iacob vnto hys houshold & to all that were with him, put away the straunge Goddes that are amonge you, and make your selues cleane, and chaunge your garmentes,

Oure reioysinge is this, the testimony of oure conscience, that in synglenes and Godly purenes, and not in fleshely wysdome, but by the grace of God, we haue had oure conuersation in the worlde, and moste of all to youwardes.

Then put awaye, sayde he the straung Goddes which are among you, and bowe your hertes vnto the Lorde God of Israell.

The feare of the Lorde is the beginning of wysdome, a good vnderstandyng haue al they that do therafter: the prayse of it endureth for euer.

And vnto man he sayde: Beholde, to feare the Lorde, is wisedom, and to forsake euil, is vnderstandinge.

whiche thou hast commaunded by thy seruauntes the Prophetes, and sayde: The lande vnto whiche ye go to possesse, it is an vncleane land thorow the fylthynes of the people of the landes, in their abhominacyons, wherwyth they haue made it ful of vnclennes on euery syde.

Oh Lorde, remembre yet howe I haue walked before the truly and with a perfect herte, and haue done that whyche is good in thy sighte, and wepte a great pace.

And Iosua sayde vnto all the people, thus saith the Lord God of Israel: your fathers dwelt on the other syde of the floude in olde tyme euen Thareh the father of Abraham and Nachor, and serued straunge Goddes.

But afterwarde shall the children of Israell conuerte, and seke the Lorde their God: and Dauid their kinge: & in the latter dayes, they shall worshyppe the Lorde, and hys louynge kindnesse.

these (when they were younge) beganne to playe the harlottes in Egipte. There were their brestes brosed, and the pappes of their mayden head destroyed.

that ye myght accepte thinges moste excellent, that ye might be pure and such as should hurte no mannes conscience, vntyll the daye of Christe,

Grace be with al them whiche loue oure Lorde Iesus Christe in purenes. Amen.

But ther is mercy wyth the, that thou maiest be feared.

O let myne herte be vndefyled in thy statutes that I be not ashamed.

In the lande of Nus there was a man called Iob: an innocent & vertuous man, soche one as feared God exchued euell.

When Abram was nynetye yere olde and .ix. the Lorde apeared to hym sayinge: I am the almyghtye God: walke before me and be vncorrupte.

And Samuel spake vnto al Israel, saying: yf ye become agayne vnto the Lorde wyth al youre hertes, then put awaye the straunge Goddes from among you, & Astharoth, & prepare your hertes vnto the Lorde, & serue hym alone, & so shal he rydde you out of the handes of the Philistines.

Oh, that ye wolde feare the Lorde & serue hym, & heare hys voyce, & not disobeye the mouth of the Lorde: and that both ye and the Kynge that raygneth ouer you, wolde folow the Lorde your God.

But feare the Lorde thy God and serue him, and sweare by his name,

I am the Lord thy God, which broughte the out of the lande of Egipt, open thy mouth wyde, and I shall fyll it.

I wyll shewe the, O man, what is good, & what the Lorde requyreth of the: Namely, to do right, to haue pleasure in louynge kyndnesse, to be lowlye, and to walcke wyth thy God:
