And there was a man in Maon, whose catel was in Carmell, and the man was excedynge myghtye, and had thre thousand shepe and a thousande gootes. And he was sheringe his shepe in Carmel.
She shall floryshe pleasauntlye, & be ioyfull, & euer be geuyng of thanckes more and more. For the glory of Libanus, the bewty of Charmel and Saron shalbe geuen her. These shall knowe the honour of the Lorde, and the magestie of oure God.
And he built toures in the wildernesse & digged many welles. For he had much catel, both in the valey and also in the playne: and plowmen and vinedressers in the mountaynes and in Charmel, for he loued husbandrye.
And when Ahab went vp to eate & to dryncke, Eliah went vp to the toppe of mount Carmel. And bowed hym selfe to the earthe, & put hys face betwene hys knees,
I haue hearde saye that thou hast sherers. Now thy sheperdes were with vs, & we dyd them no spyte, nether was there ought myssynge vnto them, al the whyle they were in Carmel:
And Samuel rose earlye, to mete Saul in the mornynge. And it was tolde Samuel that Saule was come to Carmell, and had set hym vp a pyller of triumphe. And was turned and departed and gone to Galgall.
And they arose and went to Ziph before Saul. But Dauid and hys men were in the wyldernesse of Maon, in the wylde felde, on the ryght hand of the wildernesse.
